Raving Reviews

Review of Witch's Sister by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor

Review by Melissa, aged 13, from Tuebingen, Germany.   Rating: Brilliant.

Tell us what you thought of the story.
An excellent book, never low on suspense. It begins when Lynn and her friend Mouse accuse Mrs. Tuggle, an old lady who lives all alone and is teaching Lynn's older sister Judith to sew, of being a witch. The two also suspect that Mrs. Tuggle is going to turn Judith into a witch too, in order to gain power. The friends' goal is to prove that the "nice" Mrs. Tuggle is indeed a cruel witch. With Lynn's and Mouse's investigations, a struggle to save Judith begins.

Favourite character and why?
Lynn, because she never stops trying to achieve making everyone believe that Mrs. Tuggle and Judith are brewing up hideous plans.

Who will the book appeal to most and why?
People who like to read about witchcraft, although it seems very real in this book.

Would you recommend the book and why?
Of course i would, although I'm not sure that the book is still in print. In Germany, the story about Lynn is new on the market, so I can recommend it to my friends. I don't know why the book isn't available in English anymore, because the it is really magnificent!

Could any improvements be made and how?
It was never boring, not at any point from the front of the book to the very last word!
