There’s an old adage in theatre which is ‘show don’t tell’. Writing plays is about revealing a theme through what happens - the action - and if you do that the audience will be allowed to watch events unfold before their eyes and make up their own minds about the characters and the story. The moment you start using characters to tell the audience what you think - then generally things start to go wrong. Show us what happens and you won’t go far wrong.
