Schools

Stories from the Web aims to promote books, authors, poets, reading and creative writing to young people. The site is currently funded by subscriptions paid by 48 Library authorities across the UK. There are now over 62,000 contributions of creative writing from young people displayed in the ‘Gallery’ on the site, some of this work has been undertaken in schools and this activity is increasing as many teachers have discovered the benefits of using Stories from the Web to support lessons with whole classes submitting stories, poetry and book reviews for display.

The success of the site has led to us now having to consider ways to provide a paid service to schools which will encourage creative reading and writing activity among young people. The FREE service is NO LONGER available to schools, any work received from children in school will no longer be displayed until subscriptions are available in the future. We hope you still enjoy looking at the website.

If your school would like information about developments for schools in the future contact doreen.williams@birmingham.gov.uk phone 0121-464-2894
