Jasmine, aged 12, from Herne Bay, Kent, England has rated a book called The Forbidden Room by Sarah Wray and says:

This book is absolutely superb!
It's my favourite book of all time and I couldn't put this down.
I don't usually like mystery books but this was just fantastic. In fact, I think almost any readers will like this. It's a fabulous read and I've reread it quite a few times to find things I haven't found before, it's that good!!!
If you haven't read this, then put it top of your Christmas list because if you haven't read it you haven't experienced true genius writing!!
Sarah Wray is such a captivating author and that's why I bought her second book: The Trap.
The Forbidden Room was a worthy winner of the WOW factor competition, probably because of the way she explains the complex difficulties with such ease.
Again, if you haven't read this then do!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is boring and Dick King-Smith's plot is predictable. He has written so many books on animals you know what is coming next. Uncle Roland is cool though, he is the rabbit.

Tracy, aged 15, from England has rated a book called The Amber Spyglass (His Dark Materials III) by Philip Pullman and says:

I was seriously disappointed with the last instalment of this series. I felt the ending was weak and there was no big battle for which I was expecting to read about. I felt that Phillip Pullman simply got bored of writing this book and decided to fill a few pages with a load of mush, which by the way made no sense!

However, I did enjoy the first half of the book and thoroughly enjoyed the story line between Lord Asriel and Mrs Coulter.

Laura, aged 13, from England has rated a book called Missing: When Lightning Strikes by Meg Cabot and says:

I found the story line a refreshing knew idea and very much enjoyed this book more than probably her more well known books of the Princess Diaries. It is a relaxing read with no complexity in the writing style. The book and the other books in the series are not very long and I think that they are just long enough to stay in your memory as a good read.

Jade, aged 12, from Derbyshire, England has rated a book called The Named by Marianne Curley and says:

In this story there are main characters (Ethan and Isabel) Ethan has had a traumatic past, his older sister, Sera was killed by an evil man with half a face called Marduke when Ethan was only four, ever since then he has been a member of the guard, a band of people with special "talents" (powers) who try and restore order to time while the goddess of chaos causes, you got it!, chaos. Ethan has to train up his apprentice, Isabel who is a tough cookie, they have lots of fun along the way traveling through time trying to keep order.

This was an excellant read! I loved every detail, it wasn't one of those books where it had a good idea to it but was written really rubbishly, it was brilliantly written. It had lots of detail though it wasnt a bit confusing, in comparison it was really cool, at the end it completely got you off guard (but you'll have to read it to find out!) I am a girl (and I loved it!) but I know it's the sort of books that boys would like too, lots of action, but not too much! A very tiny slice of romance, which evened it out nicely, and has a really good plot. Of course if you enjoyed it you have to read the sequals, The key and The dark!

Flora, aged 13, from Stratford upon Avon, Warwickshire, England has rated a book called Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J.K. Rowling and says:

I love this book. Its A-MAZING. It is one of the best books I have ever read. Actually, the WHOLE series of HP are the best books I have ever read.
When I started reading them; I couldn't put them down.
I love JK's style, and I really don't see how people can find the books boring.
I love Ron, Harry and Hermione. Especially Hermione, especially Ron AND especially Harry! I really can't choose a favourite. Ron is soo funny, but he has a bad temper and gets jealous easily, well, who wouldn't if they had a famous best friend and another that is the brainiest girl in the world!? I love the whole of the Philosopher's Stone, its awesome... I really can't stress how much I love this book [and all the others]. All I can really say, is that half my brain is made up of HP and that will never change.
